Tipu Sultan, Gold Double Pagoda or Siddiqui, 6.56g, Patan Mint, AM 1217/7, obv. reads as A Siddiqui struck at Patan (Cyclical) year Sarab, the (Mauludi) year 1217. Very slight mount marks in centre above the RY. Tipu Sultan’s gold and silver coins were called after Muhammadan Saints, Khalifas and Imams. The two pagodas or Sadiq that is ’just’ is derived from Abu Bakr Sadiq, the first Khalifa.
